This project is a creative collaboration between Jane Lillard and me, bringing together our individual styles in the ThingSpace. We both came to ThingSpace with individual designs drawn in Adobe Illustrator beforehand. I designed the apples, bird, skull, and two faces (one normal and one creepy), where Jane created a star with interior embellishments. We decided to mash up my "creepy face" design with her star for the final piece. The process of using Bubbles was not easy, especially with the stars. The first time around, Bubbles engraved all the designs but did not cut out the pieces; the second time around, Bubbles cut out only the circle pieces and not the stars. The third and final time, Bubbles cut all the pieces out without error. Each time we had to go back into Illustrator and tweak the design. I came into ThingSpace worried about using a machine I've never touched before. Even with all the technical errors, it was still fun to watch the process and see something you made come to life. This was a very fun collaboration, and I really enjoyed the process.
